Tampa Bay Is Getting an NBA Team Until Canada Lets U.S. Teams Travel

Say hello to…the Tampa Bay Raptors?

Looks like it.

Raptors president Masai Ujiri announced on Twitter that because of Canada’s coronavirus restrictions, the Raptors are moving to Tampa to start the 2020-2021 season.

With the amount of snowbirds - Candians that fly south to Florida for the winter - added to the general NBA fanbase around Tampa, the Raptors should still have pretty good crowds. Especially in Florida, where the governor is allowing events to have sizable attendance.

The 2020-21 regular season is scheduled to begin on Dec. 22.

Don’t be surprised if some players you wouldn’t expect sign a one-year deal with the new Tampa Raptors.

Florida is a popular place for NBA players to play, between the warm weather, zero state taxes, and very attractive female population.

Tampa Bay Raptors, let’s go!!!
