Now, he’s asking people to stop watching his popular 2003 show Chappelle’s Show.

In a video Chappelle released on his Instagram, Chappelle explained he felt stolen from by Netflix and HBO for streaming the show without paying him.

Chappelle felt wronged that because he already signed a contract giving the rights to the owner of Comedy Central (ViacomCBS), Netflix and HBO didn’t have to pay him to stream the show.

“They (ViacomCBS) didn’t have to pay me because I signed the contract. But is that right? I found out that these people were streaming my work and they never had to ask me or they never have to tell me. Perfectly legal ‘cause I signed the contract. But is that right? I didn’t think so either,” said Chappelle.

Chappelle is urging his fans not to watch his show on any streaming service unless he gets paid again.

“I think that if you are f*cking streaming that show you’re fencing stolen goods,” said Chappelle.

Following the pressure put on by Chappelle, Netflix has removed the show from it’s platform. Netflix also has a deal with Chappelle for his comedy specials.
