Mercedes Unveils Futuristic Car With No Steering Wheel and Vaporwave Vibes
The future is getting closer.
Mercedes dropped this car from straight out the year 2099, and it looks amazing.
The Mercedes AVTR is short for Avatar, but it’s also short for Advanced Vehicle Transformation.
Instead of a steering wheel, the driver puts his hand on a joystick-like central controller that brings the interior to life. It also creates a biometric connection based on the driver’s breathing. The interior screen lights up with designs including Avatar’s Pandora. Passengers are also shown various natural forces not normally visible to the naked eye, such as magnetic fields, bioenergy, and ultraviolet light.
The AVTR is fully electric with a motor on each wheel. It has spheres instead of wheels, which can rotate 30 degrees, enabling the AVTR to “crab” sideways.
The car’s energy supply is also boosted by the 33 multidirectional “bionic flaps” on the rear, which act like supercharged solar panels.
In short, the future is fully on display in 2020!
