Bathing 24-Year-Old Woman Dies After Dropping Charging iPhone Into Bath Water
A 24-year-old woman was electrocuted when her charging iPhone fell into the water as she was taking a bath.
Olesya Semenova’s lifeless body was found by her roommate in their apartment in Arkhangelsk, Russia.
“I screamed, shook her, but she was pale, did not breathe and showed no signs of life,” Semenova’s roommate Daria told the emergency operator. “I was really scared. When I touched her, I got an electric shock.”
Daria added that she found Semenova’s iPhone 8 in the water — still charging. The paramedics confirmed that Semenova had died when the phone fell into the tub while plugged into an outlet.
Using a cell phone when it’s charged at all can be dangerous. In Chicago, Gabbie Fedro had been using her cell phone while it was plugged in to charge.
Her phone charger came in contact with the necklace she was wearing, transmitting an electrical current which resulted in second degree burns. Jackie posted about the incident on Facebook, to warn others about the potential dangers of using a cell phone while wearing something made of metal.
Moral of the story? Don’t use your cell phone while it’s plugged in!
