Olivia Jade Breaks Silence After Her Mom's Prison Sentence Over College Admissions
Olivia Jade’s parents went to prison for breaking the rules to help her get into college.
Her mom, the Full House actress Lori Loughlin, and her dad, designer Mossimo Giannulli, were accused of paying $500,000 to Singer and Key Worldwide Foundation to falsely designate their daughters Olivia and her sister Isabella Rose as recruits to the University of Southern California crew team.
For this, Loughlin went to prison for two months and Giannulli for five months. Loughlin also had to pay a $150,000 fine.
Olivia Jade did her first interview ever on “Red Table Talk” and discussed the much hyped scandal.
“It’s been hard,” said Olivia Jade. “No matter what the situation is, you don’t want to see your parents go to prison. But it’s necessary for us to move on and move forward. … I’m trying to look at the positives in situations, you know? I know it’s a positive that she’s in there right now. She gets to really rethink everything that happened, kind of figure out when she comes out [she can] kind of figure out what she wants to do with what she’s learned from all of this. Hopefully that will be a blessing in the end.”
She said she hasn't spoken to either of her parents since they began their prison sentences.
“I feel like I deserve a second chance,” said Jade, who also added “'I don't deserve pity.”
It’s definitely not cool to get an unfair head start at college, but this kind of thing also happens every day at Harvard and Yale, and nobody goes to prison. Many have commented that if Olivia’s mom worked on Wall Street instead of Full House, this wouldn’t even be a story.
