Elon Musk Has a Monkey that Plays Video Games Using a Chip in its Brain
Tesla founder Elon Musk jumped on social media the other day…and casually revealed he has a monkey that plays video games with his mind using Neurolink.
"One of the things we're trying to figure out is whether we can have the monkeys playing mind pong with each other. That would be pretty cool,” said Musk. You can't see where the implant is and he's a happy monkey."
Musk’s Neurolink intends to implant chips in people’s brains to allow them to interface with computers.
The brain-interface company also intends to help disabled individuals with brain and spinal injuries. Similar tech is already helping paralyzed patients walk again.
The coin-sized implant has over 3,000 electrodes that can connect with 1,000 neurons, and wires smaller than a strand of hair.
And Musk is hiring.
Apparently Musk wants humans to interface with AIs. Which is strange, because Musk also warned against humanity creating an AI that would destroy us all.
Maybe he wants to start negotiating?
“Neuralink is working super hard to ensure implant safety & is in close communication with the FDA. If things go well, we might be able to do initial human trials later this year,” tweeted Musk. “Feels weird helping make (hopefully good version of) Cyberpunk come true.”
Elon is cool, but we’re gonna pass on the whole chips in the brain thing, thanks!
