Vince Carter Is Retiring - Here Are the Dunks That Made Him A Legend
Vinsanity.
Air Canada.
Vince Carter has earned many nicknames since coming into the NBA, and most are due to his unreal ability to elevate above the rim.
Carter set the 2000 NBA Dunk Contest on fire with a reverse 360 windmill jam. He followed that up with a beautiful between the legs dunk and a jam where he stuck his ENTIRE ARM in the rim.
But Carter’s most impressive moments came during games. Any basketball fan that saw it will never forger Carter jumping OVER 7’2’’ center Frédéric Weis during the 2000 Olympics against France.
And Carter himself agrees with The Daily Dropout on his greatest in-game dunk of all time - throwing down a monster jam on one of the greatest shotblockers of all time, Miami Heat center Alonzo Mourning.
Carter was great for more than his dunks, with former teammates like Jeremy Lin calling him a great teammate and NBA pros like former Toronto scout Bryan Oringher praising his work ethic and professionalism.
Carter played 22 NBA seasons after being drafted by the Toronto Raptors with the No. 5 pick in the 1998 NBA Draft. He is an eight-time All-Star and winner of the 1998-99 Rookie of the Year. Carter holds the record of most NBA seasons played, one more year than Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Garnett, Kevin Wills, and Robert Parish. Carter is the last active NBA player whose image appeared in a video game on the Nintendo 64 platform.
