Clemson Coach Bashes FSU, Says They Used Coronavirus As Excuse Not to Play
Hoo boy!
Dabo Swinney is as fiery as college football coaches come, and that’s plenty hot.
But this is next level.
After Florida State cancelled their game against Clemson, Swinney said, "This game was not canceled because of COVID. COVID was just an excuse to cancel the game."
Swinney says FSU administration forfeited the game, and if the Seminoles want to play Clemson, they can visit Clemson or pay for their travel.
‘It’s an awful lot of money. We were there and we met the standard to play. That’s $300,000 just gone out the window,” said Swinney. "To me, the Florida State administration forfeited the game.”
Pause for just a moment here.
Who knew it cost $300,000 for a college football team to travel for one game?
Anyway, back to Dabo firing shots at FSU!
“The standard to cancel a game was not met,” said Swinney. “I was on every committee call for months since March. The only thing we talked about in canceling games was not having enough guys or seven offensive lineman.”
Clemson is in contention for the national title this year, and Swinney is not playing with FSU’s cancellation here!
“If that was their worry, they shouldn’t have even played this season,” said Swinney.
Whew!
Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence tweeted, “Man, we were ready to play,” after the game was cancelled. Lawrence is in Heisman contention with Gators QB Kyle Trask and a few others, as The Daily Dropout recently reported.
FSU famously has a statue outside the stadium of a Seminole with the word, “Unconquered.” Cancelling a game against your toughest opponent is certainly one way to go unconquered!
