“Ride” was the lead single off the R&B singer, Ciara’s fourth studio album, Basic Instinct. The song features the American rapper Ludacris. It was the fourth time Ciara and Ludacris collaborated together. Ride was released in April of 2010 and debuted at #93 on the US BillBoard Hot 100. It peaked at #42. The song’s lyrics are very sexually provocative which is apart of Ciara’s image as an artist. The music video accompanying the song shows Ciara dancing and singing, also very provocatively, with Ludacris rapping his verse next to her. She thrusts, glides and gyrates. Ciara moves with a lot of emphasis on her private parts. Due to its intense sexual content Black Entertainment Television (BET) did not air the music video. However, MTV and VH1 had no problem with it and it got airtime.

“Stacy’s Mom was a pop rock song released in 2003 by the American rock band, Fountains of Wayne. It was their lead single on their third studio album, Welcome Interstate Managers. “Stacy’s Mom” is a song about a boy who has a crush on his friend Stacy’s mom. It was inspired by the bassist’s childhood friend who had a crush on his grandmother. The band wrote the music to the song in a power pop music style trying to emulate the American pop band, The Cars. “Stacy’s Mom” debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at #59, making it the band’s first song on the chart. A few months later it climbed and peaked at #21. 

The music video is about a boy trying to get his friend’s mom to like him. It shows many comedic scenes of him trying to get closer to her and what fantasies of her are like. He daydreams her giving him a striptease in the kitchen.The lady who played Stacy’s mom was the Australian model Rachel Hunter. She was excited to play the part because she was a huge fan of the song.

“I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself” was a song first written by Burt Bacharach and lyricist Hal David in 1962 at the New York songwriting factory called The Brill Building. The song was first recorded by American R&B singer Chuck Jackson later that year. Unfortunately, Jackson’s version of the song was shelved. Also in 1962, soul singer, Tommy Hunt recorded the song. It didn’t chart though. The first time the song charted was in 1964 when English pop singer Dusty Springfield recorded the song with her voice. The song went to #3 that summer, largely due to her unique vocal style. In 1966 the song charted again. This time it was sung by R&B singer Dionne Warwick, who would go on to become one of the most charted female singers of all time. In 2003, the alternative rock duo, The White Stripes recorded their version of the song. It was the second single released from their 4th studio album, Elephant, which got a Grammy nomination for Best Album of the Year. The song reached the Billboard top 40 in the United Kingdom, the US and New Zealand. The music video shows supermodel Kate Moss (who is one of the biggest supermodels in history) dancing on a pole in black underwear. It was shot in black & white and directed by Hollywood director Sofia Coppola.

“Hands to Myself” is a synth-pop song released in 2015 by the American singer, Selena Gomez. It was the third track released from her second studio album, Revival. The song’s musical style was inspired by Prince. “Hands to Myself” reached #7 on the US Hot Billboard 100, making it Gomez’s fourth consecutive top ten single. Three songs from that album, Revival, made it in the top ten. The song also went top ten in Slovakia, Canada and New Zealand. The music video premiered as an Apple Music exclusive on December 21, 2015. It’s about Selena Gomez playing a woman who stalks a Hollywood actor. It shows Gomez dressed in only lingerie break into his house and lay in his bed. Critics at the time said it was Selena’s sexiest video to date. The video was directed by Alek Keshishian, who made the documentary Madonna: Truth or Dare, which was a huge hit and once the highest grossing documentary ever made.

“Partition” is the third single from Beyonce’s fifth self-titled album. She co-wrote and co-produced the song with Justin Timberlake. “Partition” is an electro-R&B song very sexually explicit in nature. The chorus talks about having sex in the back of a limo. The music video is about a rich bored house wife who has sexual fantasies of seducing her husband and lighting the fire to their sex life again. The video was partially filmed at Crazy Horse, a cabaret in Paris. Beyonce’s husband, the rapper Jay-Z plays her husband in the video. They shot it at Crazy Horse because the night Beyonce and Jay-Z got engaged they went to Crazy Horse to celebrate. Beyonce recalls the night in an interview, “ ‘Damn, these girls are fly.' I just thought it was the ultimate sexy show I've ever seen. And I was like, 'I wish I was up there, I wish I could perform that for my man...' So that's what I did for the video.” The video shows Beyonce dressed in lingerie putting on a striptease for Jay-Z. She eventually dances nude, though nothing is shown explicitly. The video was nominated for many awards. It was nominated for Video of the Year at the BET 2014 Awards and Best Choreography and Best Female Video at the MTV Video Music Awards that year too.

“Toxic” was the third single from Britney Spear’s fourth studio album, In the Zone. The song was written by the Swedish songwriting and production team known as Bloodshy and Avant. They offered it to the Australian pop-singer, Kylie Minogue but she passed. Britney Spears accepted the song and it earned her a Grammy, the only one she has won. The song was a huge hit world wide. It reached the top five in 15 countries. It peaked at #9 in the US, making it her fourth top ten single. 

The song is a metaphor for a lover being toxic like an addicting drug. The music video is a science fiction secret agent story inspired by Blade Runner, The Seven Year Itch and John Woo films. It’s about Britney Spears, who plays a secret agent in search for a vial of green liquid. She then poisons her boyfriend with it. The video is intercut with shots of Britney singing nude with diamonds covering her body. The video was released shortly after Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction at the Super Bowl. MTV deemed it too racy and would only show it late night.

“Freedom! ’90” was a song written and produced by the English singer George Michael. It was the second single from his second solo album, Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1. The song is about George Michael’s previous success in the music business with his band, Wham! But he is transforming and evolving as an artist and is cynical of the music industry. The song was a huge hit and peaked at #9 on the US Billboard Hot 100. 

George Michael refused to be the main focus of the video and let 5 of the world’s top supermodels lip sync the lyrics. He was sick of fame and didn’t want to be the focus of the video. The supermodels were; Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Tatjana Patitz and Linda Evangelista. The music video was directed by David Fincher, who would later become a big Hollywood director. His films include; Seven, Gone Girl and The Social Network.

“Blurred Lines” was the lead single from singer Robin Thicke’s album also called Blurred Lines. It was written and produced by Pharrell Williams who also sings in it. The rapper T.I. is also featured in the song. It was a massive hit, going #1 in 25 countries around the world. 

There are 2 versions of the music video for the song. One is an uncensored version where it shows the models Emily Ratatjkowski, Jessi M'Bengue, and Elle Evans dancing completely topless. The regular version shows them wearing clothes. The video was controversial upon its release. It was accused of being misogynistic and promoting “Rape Culture.” Thicke and Williams said that the song is meant to be lighthearted and empowering to women. They claimed that the women overpowered the men in the video. The uncensored version can only be played on YouTube in age restrictive mode. Some universities in the UK banned the video from being shown on their computer systems.

“Wicked Game” is a song by the rock singer, Chris Isaak. It was released in 1989 from his third album. “Wicked Game” was put out as the lead single but didn’t become popular until a year later when it was featured in the David Lynch film, Wild At Heart. In 1991 it reached #6 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It has since become an iconic song, having been covered by many musical artists across many genres and having been featured in several films and advertisements. 

The music video for “Wicked Game” was shot in Hawaii and directed by Herb Ritts. The video shows the supermodel Helena Christensen frolicking and rolling in the sand with Chris Isaak. Much of the video she is topless but the cinematography cleverly hides her nudity. The video was shot in black & white. It won several awards including; Best Male Video, Best Cinematography and Best Video From a Film at the MTV Video Music Awards.
