Animal House

Of course we have to start this list with the most iconic movie about college ever made. And while it probably couldn’t be made today, with all its political incorrectness, Animal House remains king of all college films, with a legendary cast of John Belushi, Tom Hulce, Donald Sutherland and a young Kevin Bacon. The 1978 film follows the misadventures of the worst Fraternity on campus of the fictional Faber College. They filmed the movie at the University of Oregon in an actual frat house, though some of the interior scenes where shot on a sound stage.
Revenge of the Nerds

Let’s stay on classic college gross out humor flicks and talk about Revenge of the Nerds next. Released in 1984, it’s about a fraternity full of nerds getting revenge on the jock fraternity for bullying them all semester. For exterior college shots they filmed in the south west at the University of Arizona in Tucson. For the rest of the college shots they went to Texas A&M University. Seriously guys, if you haven’t seen this movie go give it watch, you won’t be disappointed.
Rudy

Perhaps one of the greatest sports movies ever made, Rudy is a classic underdog story. Based on true events this movie chronicles Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger’s admittance into the University of Notre Dame and playing on their historic football team. Obviously the film was shot on Notre Dame’s campus in Indiana. Sean Astin starred as Rudy and the film was ranked number 54th Most Inspiring Film of All Time by AFI.

The 2008 drama, written by the famous script writer Aaron Sorkin, is about Mark Zuckerburg and the founding of Facebook in his dorm room while he attended Harvard University. Naturally they wanted to film at Harvard but were denied to do so because of physical damage done to the campus on a previous film shoot. So instead they shot at John Hopkin’s University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Good Will Hunting

Keeping it on films about smart kids at Ivy League schools, Good Will Hunting was Matt Damon’s very first film. He even wrote it with his friend Ben Affleck, ever heard of him. In this movie Matt plays a troubled teen from Boston who is extremely smart but also suffers from PTSD from a rough childhood. It takes a psychology teacher played by Robin Williams to get through to him so he doesn’t ruin his own future. The movie was filmed at Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The film was a huge success, making a boat load of money and being nominated for 9 Academy awards.

This film is about a group of smart kids at a fancy east coast school. It’s actually based on true events surrounding MIT mathematic majors counting cards in Black Jack at Las Vegas casinos and making a ton of money doing so. The 2008 film stars Jim Sturgess, Kate Bosworth, Laurence Fishburne and Kevin Spacey in a great villain character. The movie takes place at MIT but they used Boston University instead.
22 Jump Street

The funny sequel to 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum again as now they go to college as undercover cops to solve a case. The college in the movie is a fictional school called MC State College with their mascot being the Statesmen. They filmed at Tulane College in New Orleans. They even let some students be extras in their exterior scenes.
