Have you ever wanted to eat a 1,000 dollar sundae? Well you can, you just  have to call 48 hours in advance so they can make it for you. It’s called the Golden Opulence Sundae and it’s made of Tahitian vanilla ice-cream made with Madagascar vanilla bean, is covered with specialty chocolates, caviar, truffles, Parisian candied exotic fruits and of course 23-Karat edible gold leaf. The sundae also comes in a $350 Baccarat Harcourt crystal goblet which you get to keep. The eatery created the dessert in 2005 to celebrate their 50th anniversary (also called gold anniversary). They claim that they sell one a month.  All that means is some New Yorkers might have too much money.

Okay, I can understand if you don’t want to drop 2 K on breakfast but what about pizza? It seems New York City is the perfect place for someone who wants to spend a couple bands on a single meal. Industry Kitchen makes a pizza fit for a king. At 2 thousand dollars they’ll cook you a pie made of Stilton Cheese, foie gras, top-shelf caviar and edible glittering gold leaf on top. It doesn’t really sound like pizza but I guess if you have dough, sauce and cheese it counts.

World renown Chef Hubert Keller makes the most expensive burger on the planet. At his high end restaurant titled Fleur, located at the Mandalay Bay Resort, you need 5 grand in your pocket, or a good day at the tables, to order this burger. It’s made from the most expensive Wagyu beef that’s worth hundreds of dollars per pound, and has truffles added priced at thousands per pound. The whole meal also comes with a bottle of 1995 Chateau Petrus for when you get thirsty. Just that bottle alone would cost you $2,500.

Louis XIII Pizza

Price: $12,000

Restaurant: Renato Viola

Salerno, Italy

Louis XIII Pizza _goog.jpg

The most expensive pizza in the world takes three chefs to make it. They even come to your house (you have to live in Italy) and prepare the pizza right in front of you so you get the full experience. The Louis XIII Pizza is a 8 inch pizza that would cost you 12 thousand dollars idf you order it. What’s so special about this pizza that it cost so much? - apparently, everything. The ingredients on this pie come from all over the world. Mozzarella di bufala, is the cheese used and it is made from the collected milk of domesticated Italian buffaloes. They top the pizza with lobster specially imported from Norway. Three types of top tier caviar is put on too. They also use hand picked pink salt from Australia and a special Mediterranean species of shrimp. That’s not all because there is even more ingredients used. It is a packaged deal, you receive cognac wine to drink and it’s also served on expensive limited edition cutlery. This would make the ultimate dinner party, so you can brag to your neighbors that you have more money, but I’m a bit disappointed there’s no edible gold and with the pizza only 8 inches you might have to order a few to feed everyone.

The Fortress Stilt Fisherman Indulgence

Price: $14,500

The Fortress Resort & Spa

Sri Lanka

Stilt Fisherman Indulgence_goog.jpg

So, are you ready for the most expensive food item in the world? It’s called The Fortress Stilt Fisherman Indulgence and it’s $14,500. Basically, it's a dessert that comes with a big a** jewel with it. Only made on special order, and at least 24 hours given in advance, the dessert is an Italian cassata (sponge cake) flavored with Irish creme and is served with pomegranate and mango compote (fruit-sugar syrup). The base of the dish is champagne sabayon (custard) with a 80 carat aquamarine stone, placed beneath a handmade chocolate stilt fisherman. It looks so good it should be in like a modern art museum or something. Though, I think they are cheating a little bit when it comes to most expensive food dishes, because basically they’re just selling you a big a** jewel but with some cake and custard too.
