Matt Leblanc

Heinz Ketchup

American actor Matt Leblanc is best known for his role as dumb, goofy and flirty Joey Tribbiani on the sitcom Friends. Friends ran from 1994-2004 and was one of the most popular tv sitcoms while it was on the air. After it was done LeBlanc went on to act in other tv series like Joey, Episodes, Top Gear and right now he acts in Man with a Plan. The first ever thing LeBlanc starred in was a Heinz Ketchup commercial in 1987. In the commercial he uses the thickness of Heinz Ketchup to impress a girl. In it he’s able to showcase his acting strengths. His natural and effortless charisma plus his suave and kind of dorky charm definitely gave audiences a hint of what was to come from Matt Leblanc.

Courtney Cox

Tampax

Courtney Cox is also known for acting in the tv sitcom series Friends. She portrayed the clean, uptight but well intentioned Monica Geller for the entire series. She originally auditioned for the character Rachel Green, which Jennifer Aniston played, but the producers wanted her to play Monica instead. By the last two seasons Cox and the other two female leads of the show were the highest paid actresses at the time making one million dollars an episode. But before Cox was a rich and famous actor she starred in a Tampax tampon commercial in 1985. In which she’s a ballet dancer pitching why Tampax is the best tampon brand. She speaks clearly, she’s upbeat, cheerful and not to mention a total babe. It makes sense why she got the gig.

Jodie Foster

McDonalds

Jodie Foster has been acting since she was just 3 years old. By the time she was 14 she had been already nominated for an Oscar. To say she’s a great actor would be an understatement. She’s won two Oscars, 2 Golden Globes and the Cecil B. DeMille Award. She’s also a producer and a director, to which she’s been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award. The iconic films she’s acted in include Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver, The Accused and Silence of the Lambs. She directed the Mel Gibson film The Beaver, as well as episodes of Orange is the New Black, House of Cards and Black Mirror.

Foster starred in a really old MacDonalds commercial in the late 60’s when she was still a little girl. It’s a bit of an odd commercial suppose to be targeted at kids but it probably gave them nightmares. It takes place in the fantasy world of McDonalds Land where a boy and a girl (Jodie Foster) are sad because the evil Grimace stole all the cups so they can’t enjoy Coca Cola or McDonalds shakes. Ronald McDonald comes to the rescue and tricks the Grimace and gets the cups back for the kids. The last scene is the kids enjoying delicious beverages with Ronald McDonald at a McDonalds.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Bubble Yum

Everyone on this planet probably knows who Leonardo DiCaprio is. His acting resume is insane. He has starred in too many movies to count. His iconic roles include What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Romeo + Juliet, Titanic, Blood Diamond, The Departed, Inception, Django Unchained, Wolf of Wall Street, The Revenant and many more. Before DiCaprio blew up and became a huge movie star in the 90’s he did a lot of commercials in the late 80’s. One of them was for Bubble Yum which was targeted at kids. It’s a very 80’s commercial with preteen DiCaprio sporting the choice threads of the day. In the commercial he compares a piece of Bubble Yum to a very power boombox. But while the boombox speakers can blow out and become useless Bubble Yum will never lose its elasticity. Pretty gnarley bro.

Meg Ryan

Aim Toothpaste

Meg Ryan was one of the most famous and successful actresses in the 1990’s and early 2000’s. She was the queen of romantic comedies. She starred in rom-com classics like When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle and You got Mail. However, like all actors she needed to start somewhere. When she was a teenager she acted in many commercials to get her foot in Hollywood’s door. In 1980, she starred in an Aim toothpaste commercial. Her and two other cheerleaders are in a locker room getting ready for the big high school football play-off game. They ask to borrow Ryan’s Aim toothpaste then she proceeds to tell them how good it is at fighting cavities. At the end Ryan is told a boy is waiting for her and the cheerleaders get jealous, probably because of her fresh breath and lack of cavities thanks to Aim toothpaste.

Bruce Willis

Seagrams

Bruce Willis is one of Hollywood’s greatest action heroes ever to have been onscreen. He became a world renown action hero after his portrayal of John McClane in Die Hard. His other films he starred in are Pulp Fiction, 12 Monkeys, The Fifth Element, Armageddon, The Six Sense, Sin City, the Unbreakable film series, Looper and many more.  Right before he reached international fame in ’88 after Die Hard, he starred in a super funny and cheesy Seagrams commercial in ‘87. In it Willis parties with three beautiful women all night, all because they like the fact he’s drinking a Seagram’s wine cooler. It’s complete with the music, dress and setting of the day, with Willis dancing hilariously  and sporting a goofy smile on his face. It’s a little weird to watch him act this way, especially since he’s John freaking McClane. Regardless, it’s a funny watch.

Elijah Wood

Pizza Hut

Elijah Woods will be forever known as Frodo Baggins from The Lord of the Rings series of the early 2000’s. It was the most iconic role of the decade and might be for this century. But before he was Frodo, Elijah Wood had a successful career as a child actor. And after Lord of the Rings, Elijah went on to have success in other films and especially TV with his starring role in the FX series Wilfred. He and his family are from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where his parents owned and ran a delicatessen. When they realized how talented young Elijah was they sold their delicatessen and moved to LA. Their choice to dramatically change their lives would later pay off. But first Elijah had to pay his dues. He was cast in a Pizza Hut commercial in the late ’80’s advertising their cheese burger pizza. In the commercial a family attempts to have a summer bbq but everything goes wrong so they order from Pizza Hut. It’s a pretty standard commercial with Elijah playing the youngest member of the family, who in one scene flicks a big spoonful of mash potatoes at his older sister.

keanu reeves 2.jpg

Keanu Reeves

Cornflakes

Before Keanu Reeves showed the world how much of a badass he could be by playing Neo from The Matrix series and John Wick from the John Wick franchise. He was a super goofy teen star, especially in his role in the Bill & Ted series. He doesn’t show it much but Keanu has a lighter side to him. He isn’t serious or sad all the time like the notorious memes on the internet would have you believe. He showed that to the public when he was cast in a Kellogg’s Corn Flakes commercial in 1987. He plays a waiter setting the tables in a grand hall for breakfast. As he places the corn flakes boxes down he dances and twirls around. He even eats a bowl when no one is looking because he loves corn flakes so much.

Brad Pitt

Pringles

As of right now, Brad Pitt is one of the most successful and powerful people in the American entertainment industry. One of the best actors of his generation, Pitt has starred in movies like Fight Club, the Ocean’s 11 series, Troy, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Moneyball and more. He also owns a production company that has produced critically acclaimed films like The Departed, 12 years a Slave, The Tree of Life and The Big Short. He’s been married to other A-list actors Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie. To say Pitt has had a good career would be an understatement.

Before Pitt’s big breakout, he acted in a 1989 Pringles ad where he and his two surfer dude friends run out of Pringles and their car breaks down. Their bad day turns good again when a car full of beach babes stop and shares their Pringles with Pitt and his friends. It’s a goofy yet strange commercial
