Brook Shields
Brook Shields is a 54 year old actress and model. Her parents are the actress and socialite, Teri Shields and businessman Frank Shields. When Brook was just 5 days old her mother decided that she would have a career in show business. When Brook was 11 months old she had her first photo shoot for Ivory Soap. She became a child model for the prominent agent Eileen Ford. Eileen Ford supposedly created the child model department in her agency just for Brook. She became the youngest model at 14 years old to be on the cover of Vogue. Brook went on to be a very successful actress as well. When she was 12 she played a child prostitute in the film, Pretty Baby, which was very controversial but got her nation wide recognition. She went on to star in other films like The Blue Lagoon and Endless Love. She also went on to have a very successful television acting career too, even getting her very own sitcom in 1996 called Suddenly Susan.
Cindy Crawford
Cindy Crawford is a 53 year old model and actress. She got her first gigs in high school modeling clothes for local stores in her hometown of DeKalb, Illinois. When she was 17 she did a photo shoot which was put on the cover of a local publication. Crawford said that the feedback was so positive she wanted to pursue modeling. She entered the Elite Modeling Management Look of the Year competition and placed 2nd. She attended college on a scholarship for chemical engineering but left after her first quarter to do modeling full-time and eventually moved to New York to sign with the Elite New York Modeling Agency. During the 80’s and 90’s Crawford was a prominent super model for ad campaigns, runway shows and magazine covers. Her trademark is the mole just above the corner of her upper lip. Crawford starred in commercials, television roles and films as well. She was in the famous Super Bowl Pepsi commercial in 1992, which they remade in 2016 also starring her. From 1989-1995 Crawford was the host of MTV’s House of Style which was a reality tv show about the lives of super models and the trends of the day. Crawford saw moderate success as a film actress in movies like Fair Game and The Simian Line. In 2000, Crawford quit modeling full-time to do other things like business and activism. She started her own furniture line and started a charity to research Child Leukemia. She returned to modeling again in 2011 and is still working today.
Elle Macpherson
Elle Macpherson is a 55 year old Australian supermodel, tv personality and actress. Before she planned to study Law at Sydney University, Elle traveled to New York to spend a year making money from modeling gigs to help pay for school. Her first gig was a TAG soda commercial in 1982 which got her nation wide recognition in Australia as “the girl next door” type. Her modeling career took off very quickly. She became a top supermodel during the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s appearing in several top fashion magazines, especially Elle. Time magazine gave her the nickname “The Body” which Elle would later use in many business ventures. She has walked runways for Ralph Lauren, Christian Dior, Louis Vitton, Perry Ellis, Calvin Klein and many more. She has appeared in ad campaigns for pretty much every major fashion retail company and non fashion companies like Chrysler, Miller Lite, Diet Coke, Budweiser and even KFC. In the 1990’s Elle acted in some films. She was in Sirens (which starred Hugh Grant), Batman & Robin (George Clooney), The Edge (Anthony Hopkins) and The Mirror Has Two Faces (Barbra Streisand). In 1999 she had a recurring role in Friends. In the 2010’s Elle became the new host of Britain’s and Irelands Next Top Model and the reality competition series Fashion Star.
Iman
Iman is a 64 year old Somali-American model, actress, tv personality and entrepreneur. Her father was the former Somali Ambassador in Saudi Arabia. Iman is fluent in five languages; English, Somali, Arabic, Italian and French. She went to college in Kenya where she studied political science. While she was there she was discovered by the American photographer Peter Beard. He urged her to pursue a career so she moved to New York to become a model. Her long, slender, tall figure and skin tone set her apart and immediately she was getting her photos in top magazines. She became a supermodel in the 80’s and 90’s and was a muse to many top fashion designers. Iman also did some acting as well, being featured in Star Trek and Miami Vice. In 1992 she married British singer David Bowie until he passed away in 2016. In the mid 2000’s she hosted Project Runway Canada for 2 years. Today she runs her own cosmetic company.
Paulina Porizkova
Paulina Porizkova is a 54 year old model, author and actress. She holds citizenship in both Sweden and the United States but was born in Czechoslovakia. Her family fled to Sweden when she was young due to political turmoil. Her modeling career begun when a makeup artist sent her picture to Elite Modeling Agency to show them her skills to try to get a job. They ended up being more impressed with Paulina’s good looks and signed her. She became a prominent model in Paris before moving to the US. At just 18 years old she became the first woman from Central Europe to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 1984. She was also on the cover in 1985, making her the second model ever to be on the cover two years in a row. This catapulted her career to being a top supermodel. After modeling Paulina became a writer. She is a blogger for the Huffington Post and wrote a children’s book called The Adventures of Ralphie the Roach.
Carol Alt
Carol Alt is a 58 year old model and actress from Queens, New York. When she was 18 Carol was waiting tables and someone in the industry told her she should be a model so she tried it to make some extra cash to put towards college. Just one year later her big break was being on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar magazine in 1979. She became more prominent when she was featured on the cover of the 1982 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. This really launched her career and she was a top supermodel in the 1980’s, appearing in more than 500 magazine issues and covers. Carol also became an actor, though most of her movies roles were in Italian productions. In 2008 she was a contestant of The Apprentice, competing for her charity.
Jill Goodacre
Jill Goodacre is a 55 year old retired model and actress from Texas. She is the daughter of the sculptor Glenna Goodacre, who designed the Sacagawea dollar that entered circulation in 2000. Jill Goodacre was one of Victoria’s Secret main models to showcase their products in the 80’s and 90’s when they were a relatively new company. She appeared extensively in their catalogs and helped make Victoria’s Secret into the huge brand it is today. In 1994, Jill acted in a Friends episode where she played herself. In the credits she was billed as Jill Connick, even though she was called Jill Goodacre in the dialog. She had recently married the Grammy and Emmy award winning singer-actor, Harry Connick Jr.
Kim Alexis
Kim Alexis is a 59 year old American model and actress who grew up in Buffalo, New York. Kim was a really good student and got into the five year Pharmacy program at the University of Rhode Island. However, she left school because she signed onto Elite Model Management in 1978 and her modeling career was taking off. She became a hugely successful supermodel in the 1980’s, appearing alongside other popular supermodels like Gia Carangi, Carol Alt, Iman, Janice Dickinson and Paulina Porizkova.
In 1983 she became the new face of the American cosmetics company, Revlon for their premium Ultima II line, replacing Lauren Hutton. In the early 1990’s Kim hosted various health shows. One being Healthy Kids on the Family Channel. She was featured in the Eddie Murphy film, Holy Man in 1998. In 2005 she was on the celebrity competition show But Can They Sing?, where celebrities had to sing to an audience and get judged. She was eliminated the second week. Now Kim lives in Florida where she raised her family.
