Jekyll & Gin

This cocktail is perfect for Halloween, especially if you’re throwing a costume party. This cocktail glows in the dark under a black light, which is a must have decoration for your Halloween party. This drink is great because it gets you drunk and becomes part of your decorations for the party. It’s a fun twist on the classic drink called the Gin Daisy. You can mix a big batch in a pitcher or punch bowl, or just serve it up individually.

Ingredients:

3 oz Gin

1/2 oz lemon juice

1 teaspoon of Grenadine

1 handful of ice

Tonic water (this is what makes it glow in the dark)

Also buy a pack of glow sticks to garnish the drinks with.

*recipe yields 1 drink

Directions:

  1. Mix the gin, lemon juice and grenadine in a cocktail shaker, then pour in a large glass full of ice.

  2. Top with tonic water. Garnish with a glow stick.

Throwing some food-grade dry ice in the drink adds some extra Halloween spookiness. Make sure it’s food-grade dry ice because you don’t want to get anyone sick. Also wait until the dry ice has completely evaporated before you drink (crushing it into powder works best, always wear gloves when handling).

Bloody Mary Syringes

Here’s another awesome drink + decoration combined you could have at your Halloween party or just to do for fun on the holiday. This drink is simple and fun. If you already haven’t guessed it’s essentially just Bloody Marys in food safe syringes. They will quench all the vampires’ thirst at your party so no one gets bit, or whoever just like Bloody Marys.

Ingredients:

2 cups of tomato juice

8 oz. vodka

2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon of Horseradish

2 teaspoons of hot sauce (like Tabasco)

The juice of half a lemon

Freshly ground black pepper

Food safe syringes (buy 24 for the recipe above)

Directions:

Combine tomato juice, vodka, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, lemon juice, and pepper in a large bowl. Whisk the ingredients for a few minutes. Fill the food safe syringes with the cocktail and serve them cold. YOu can find these syringes online, they are made for Jello shots. You can put them in a bucket of ice to display them at your party. Add some cut limes to the bucket too.

If you think your party goers won’t like Bloody Marys you can fill the syringes with red jello shots to have the same “blood” concept.

Hard Apple Cider

Apple cider is a go to drink during the fall and a must have at a Halloween party or just a night in with friends and loved ones. This drink recipe is very easy but takes a few hours to prepare so plan accordingly.

Ingredients:

1 gallon of apple cider

1 & 1/2 cup of fireball whiskey (or other cinnamon flavored whiskey)

1/2 a cup Caramel

3 cinnamon sticks (plus more to garnish the drinks with)

* above recipe yields 8 drinks

Directions:

  1. Put the apple cider, whiskey, caramel and cinnamon sticks in a Crock-Pot and cook on low until warmed through (about 2-3 hours).

  2. Ladle the hot cider into cups and garnish with cinnamon sticks.

A fun optional thing you could do is take 8 large apples and hallow them out with an apple corer to turn them into cups. Leave about a half an inch from the bottom. To keep the apples from browning squeeze lemon juice in the apple and spread it all over inside. This requires more work but is worth it in the end with all the compliments people will give you when you hand them an apple cider cocktail in an apple cup.

Cotton Candy Shots

Cotton Candy Shots _goog.jpg

Halloween is about two things; costumes and candy. So when you’re getting a little toasty with your friends this Halloween cotton candy shots are the way to go. This is by far the easiest drink to prepare on this list.

Ingredients:

1 oz. of Vodka (flavored or not, your choice)

1/2 oz. of Tonic water

Cotton candy

*recipe yields 1 drink

Directions:

  1. Pour the vodka and tonic water into a shot glass.

  2. Top the shot with a large piece of cotton candy (it will start to dissolve)

When you drink the shot the vodka-tonic dissolves the cotton candy picking up it’s flavor.

A variation of this recipe is to blend vanilla ice cream, vodka and cotton candy in a blender. Then pour the mixture into shot glasses and serve immediately.

Caramel sauce

Flaked Maldon sea salt

Green apple (for garnish)

  2. Then fill a cocktail shaker with ice, combine the vodka, apple liqueur and lemon juice.

  3. Shake until it’s well chilled and pour into the glass with the caramel and salted rim. Garnish with a green apple wedge.
